arch promises to be an exciting time for Twilight fans. The all-conquering movie is scheduled to hit American store shelves on Saturday 21st and already the two-disc version of the DVD sits atop the best-sellers chart on Amazon.com (order your copy here). And so to make your Twilight DVD party go with a bang, serve up some sugary snacks inspired by the romance between high school student Bella (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) courtesy of sweetie company NECCO (New England Confectionary Company). Now that’s one exciting sugar rush!

NECCO is to launch a special range of their Sweethearts sweeties complete with slogans inspired by the film. This means that more tame and traditional messages such as “I Love You” and “Marry Me” will make way for the likes of “Bite Me”, “Secret” and “Soul Mate”. These candies are going to be softer and sparklier than the brand’s usual Sweethearts and will also come in new flavours such as “orange obsession” and “tempting apple”. Another Twilight-inspired range is also expected for the theatrical release of its sequel, New Moon in November.

NECCO’s Sweethearts are considered the best-selling Valentine’s Day candy in America, but are looking to expand into new territories with the Twilight tie-in and other US celebrations such as Memorial Day. “The idea is we can provide our consumers a vehicle for any time they want to say something sweet or express an emotion,” explains NECCO’s president and CEO Richard Krause.

Will you be adding Twilight Sweethearts to your shopping bill come March and what other slogans would you like to see on the calorific confections?
