Looks like the much-anticipated Box Office showdown between Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart has been called off.
According to a source close to Pattinson’s Little Ashes, the movie’s release has been pushed from March 27 to May 8. The March date was significant as it marked the opening of Stewart’s movie Adventureland.
The new May release means the two stars—who famously played lovers in Twilight—will no longer go head-to-head on their respective opening weekend.
“It was going to be fun, the little competition with the two films,” says the Ashes source. “But this gives everyone time to really give Ashes the attention it needs.”
The timing issue came with the success of Departures, an Oscar-nominated film being released by Regent Releasing, the same company handling Little Ashes.
“They want to give Departures the attention and budget it deserves,” says the source. “And then move onto Ashes.”
Pattinson plays the artist Salvador Dali in Ashes.

Robert Pattinson knew during the filming of Little Ashes that he wanted to be a professional actor.
He told YOU magazine what happened: “Last year, when I played Salvador Dali. The whole crew was Spanish. I can’t speak Spanish so I obsessed over the part.
“I came to a completely different realization about how deep you can go into a character and how you can research a character. It was the first time I’ve been satisfied from a job.
“I wanted to bring that to every job afterward.”
Before Little Ashes Rob had been thinking of giving up acting and trying his hand at music instead.
He decided to keep with the acting and shortly afterwards landed the part of Edward Cullen in Twilight.
Rob hasn’t totally given up on the music idea and two of his tracks appear on the Twilight soundtrack.

Robert Pattinson swaps his fangs for a paintbrush in his latest movie role – the British actor plays Spanish artist Salvador Dalí in upcoming film Little Ashes.

In the film, set in 1922 and described by industry publication Variety as an “arty Bohemian romp,” the hunky 22-year-old portrays the Spanish surrealist painter (1904-1989) Dalí as a young man – in love with the poet Federico GarcÍa Lorca, played by Javier Beltran. The two meet at university and Lorca, according to the movie’s production notes, is attracted to Dalí’s “bizarre blend of shyness and rampant exhibitionism.”

Little Ashes, which is set against the backdrop of fascist Spain, hits theaters in March.

Pattinson (pictured above as Dalí) is best known for his role as vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight. He has also played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
